Majora’s Mask: N64 vs. 3DS Comparison

Whoa buddy – Majora’s Mask sure has aged, hasn’t it? But y’know I don’t find the N64 graphics terrible to look at. Maybe it’s because my eyes have, like, seen it all (and by all I mean I grew up with the NES and beyond) so to me it’s like, “Eh, I’ve seen this before and am used to it.” What about you?

The 3DS version has, of course, smoother edges, additional details, brighter colors, etc. But the most important fix to ALL OF THIS are Link’s animations during the Epona dragging scene. I always thought he looked a bit…zombie-ish…just hangin’ onto her all lifeless-like while uttering random groans. So, it’s nice to see his feet kicking around and whatnot in the 3DS version of the game.

The more footage I see, the more I want this. I was *this* close, but I didn’t snag a Majora’s Mask 3DS (I had my mouse on the “Buy” button and everything). For as badly as I want to play Majora’s Mask, I have a serious console backlog I need to work my way through. It would quite literally be several months before I even came close to touching it. So I thought I’d let someone else have it. Sigh.

Are you excited for TLoZ: MM 3DS?! (I like to abbreviate around here.)

  1. I’m still trying to get a Majora’s Mask 3DS XL :) Hopefully, it’ll come back up for preorder somewhere (I’m basically monitoring Kotaku’s page for it every day…they’re updating every day about it). If not, I’ll just go to a store and try and find one. And if that still doesn’t work, I’m sure it’ll pop up on Craigslist here and there :)

  2. If I didn’t already have a Pikachu 3DS – or actually HAD money to spend D’: – I SO would have scooped up a Majora 3DS! I am so freaking excited for this~
