Welcome to Britt5091: Origins, where I dig up old blog posts I used to write for IGN’s community under the username Britt5091. Some posts may make you giggle, some may make your eyes bleed, and some may make you stroke your beard in a pensive manner. All you need to know is that these posts, no matter how terrible some of them may be, ultimately lead to everything I do now.
Fireworks, Cowboys and Dead Space
July 5th, 2009
The Fireworks War results are in! Sweet pics included. But first…
Over the weekend I was talking with my cousin’ss husband about, well, gaming of course. Have you guys heard of Gamebattles.com? I just heard about it for the first time yesterday. Anyway, he is REALLY into Rainbow 6: Vegas 2, has his own clan, puts in 5-6 hour days with these guys he’s known for years, participates in all these tournaments, etc. I didn’t quite understand everything he was saying (to say he was drunk would be an understatement) but I found it interesting, so I checked out the site. It appears to participate in a tournament, you need to buy (wait for it) Major League Gaming/Gamebattles credits. Typical tournaments cost anywhere from 20, 30 or 40 credits (that’s what the site claims anyway) which cost $13, $20 and $25 bucks. This site must make a butt-ton of money. Think of all the, uh “not so talented” players out there that think they are God’s gift to gaming, and when they see this I’m sure the dough starts ranking in.
Anyone picked up the new Call of Juarez yet? It got a “Good” from IGN, but I’m pretty easy to please (use a pure mind kiddos) and am thinking about picking it up. I’m going to be honest, what catches my attention is the ‘Old West’ atmosphere, which is probably Ubisoft was going for. It’s different. If it wasn’t for that, I might give it a glance, but that would probably be it.
SOOO I finally bought myself a copy of Dead Space. I was borrowing it from a friend, got about halfway through, then had to give it back. This was my impression after returning it:
a) Its bomb
b) It scares me to the point I want to piddle myself
c) Because it makes me want to piddle myself, I knew if I didn’t buy it I probably wouldn’t pick it up again.
I was so stoked (well, kind of) to finally sit down and continue playing it, but go figure I’ve been so busy I haven’t been able to get even a minute in. I was showing my aunt the video review on IGN and noticed some necro-alien-things I haven’t seen yet, can’t wait. *nervous laughter*
And finally?
Last night my daddio and I held our annual Turtle vs Tanks firework war. If you just raised your eyebrow, check my previous post.
I’m pretty sure I was dodging something
So who won?
The Cock Growing at Dawn, because well, he’s perky as ever, even after war.
Of course I won. You weren’t surprised, were you? C’mon now.

Britt’s Note:
It’s interesting to read these 2+ year old posts and faintly recognize my current style of writing. It’s like observing a Charmander evolve to a Charmeleon, on its way to become a Charizard.
Hmm. That didn’t quite reflect upon the situation. But can I receive nerd points for using a Pokemon reference? :B
I never played that Call of Juarez game, but I DID end up being a huge fan of the western setting when Red Dead Redemption released! :D. Holy hell I loved that game. Come to think of it, I never finished Undead Nightmare. Eeengh.
Also, the only reason I think I won the firework war was because my dad verbally told me I did. Thanks, Pops. <3.
What about Dead Space?
Just had to say/point out…”The -Cock Growing- at Dawn, because well, he’s perky as ever, even after war.” Did you mean crowing? Off point, but made me chuckle
