Parents Upset Over The New Super Nintendo

Oh, this broadcast from 1991 is just CLASSIC! Some of my favorite quotes from this video:

“Have things gone too far?”

“Therapy sessions for families whom you can call Nintenpendents!”

“At $200 a Super Nintendo setup costs twice as much as the old system, and you can’t mix and match. For the money, the company promises better pictures, sound and adventures!”

“If you’re a real good player, meaning you’ve got the skills of a nine or ten year old…”

“Some parents are refusing to be taken in.” “I’m going to say no, and I’m going to explain to him how people market things to make you spend more money.”

“Nintendo controls 80% of the video market.”

“Things definitely have come a long way since Pac-Man.”

Again, simply classic. It was kind of a “whoa” moment when the announcer said Nintendo controlled 80% of the industry at that time. Of course it’s not a hard concept to grasp as a good chunk of us remember those glory days, but still, damn. I wish I could travel back in time and show them the Xbox One/PS4/Wii U. COULD YOU IMAGINE THEIR REACTIONS?!

“OH MY GOD WHAT IS THIS IS THIS AND ALL OF THESE BUTTONS IS THIS AN ALIEN CONTRAPTION AND WHAT IS THIS INTERNET YOU SPEAK OF I DON’T THINK I CAN HANDLE THIS MY CHILD IS GOING TO BE TRICKED INTO THINKING THIS IS VALID ENTERTAINMENT WHEN IT’S JUST A PLOY FOR MORE MONEY I NEED TO EXPLAIN TO MY SON/DAUGHTER THAT PEOPLE MARKET THINGS TO MAKE THEM SPEND MORE MONEY DFADADFMETNKAJFKAJFLKDSJF:k” /scene

Yeah, I’m pretty sure it would go down like that.
