I don’t want to say I’ve never been much of a GTA fan, because the times I’ve dinked around with the game(s) have been quite grand, but, I’ve, uh, never seen a GTA title through from start to finish. Truth be told I tend to get, er…bored, but it’s likely my fault. If I stray too far away from the main story I burn out — in fact, that exact thing almost happened with Dragon Age: Origins — so my argument IS TOTALLY VALID. And with so many ho’s to mack on and people to run over, I don’t know how ANYONE stays focused on the main story.
HOW-EVA I’ve found playing *most* any game with someone else amplifies the fun factor by a trillion (as long as the person you’re playing with isn’t, you know, Mr. or Mrs. LamePants) so I can totally see myself picking up GTA V and messing around in GTAO.
..Is it being called GTAO? Well whatever, I’m gonna start calling it that.
Let’s see what Rockstar had to say about all of this, shall we?
“Grand Theft Auto Online is a dynamic and persistent online world for 16 players that begins by sharing gameplay features, geography and mechanics with Grand Theft Auto V, but will continue to expand and evolve after its launch with new content created by Rockstar Games and the Grand Theft Auto community. Grand Theft Auto Online takes the fundamental Grand Theft Auto concepts of freedom, ambient activity and mission-based gameplay and makes them available to multiple players in an incredibly detailed and responsive online world.
“In Grand Theft Auto Online, players have the freedom to explore alone or with friends, work cooperatively to complete missions, band together to participate in activities and ambient events, or compete in traditional game modes with the entire community, all with the personality and refined mechanics of Grand Theft Auto V.
“Players can invest in their character through customizing their appearance, improving their stats, owning customized vehicles, purchasing personal property, and taking part in missions, jobs and activities to earn reputation and cash to open up new opportunities to rise through the criminal ranks. The world of Grand Theft Auto Online will constantly grow and change as new content is added, creating the first ever persistent and dynamic Grand Theft Auto game world. Access to Grand Theft Auto Online is free with every retail copy of Grand Theft Auto V and launches on October 1st.”
Sounds FREAKING solid if you ask me! Even if I don’t devote myself balls-deep to GTA V, GTAO sounds like it would be fun to pick up and play with a few friends.
Now I gotta, erm, pre-order my copy. Tell me what you think about GTAO!
Just preordered yesterday and am totally stoked for this online mode. PS3 for the wife, and a PS3 for me… yeah buddy!
YOU’RE SET!
Cant wait to get my hands on this, my cousin and i have been waiting to hear about how GTAO was going to be like and after seeing this trailer we’re both even more stoked. I preordered a couple weeks ago actually and i cant wait to play it in a month.
Right on! I need to get mine preordered. This looks like it’s going to be SO, SO much fun.
GTAO looks amazing! Honestly I wasn’t sure how I felt about GTAV before today, maybe I was thinking I would have been more excited if it was next-gen. But after today, it’s a must buy! Online is going to be so much fun :D
IT IS! I think it’s going to be the best part :D
Wait, I thought GTA V came out in September. Did they move it again?
I’m pretty sure GTAO comes out two weeks after GTA V.
GTAV has set me on a permanent cream mode. It feels like Red Deads Multiplayer refined to a ridiculous level. The first time I stalk a player until they are right outside of a bank and then proceed to rob them will be the highlight of my gaming career. The time I allow somebody to murder me as I’m about to deposit a big score will be a major source of shame. Also, shame on you for not finishing a GTA game.
HAHAHAHA. Everything about your post is amazing.
