Nintendo’s E3 Plans Revealed

YOU MUST WATCH THE VIDEO. Can I just say that I love Nintendo and how quirky it is? I can? Thanks.

If, for whatever reason, you’re unable to watch, here’s the sitrep:

  • Nintendo’s Digital Event will be Tuesday, June 16th at 9:00am PST. That’s the same time as Square Enix’s press conference, FYI.
  • Nintendo World Championships are RETURNING, BABY. (More info on this below.)
  • Mario Maker will be playable at select Best Buy stores during E3 week
  • Nintendo Treehouse Live will feature more games and developer appearances

So, nothing huge here, EXCEPT THE NINTENDO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE RETURNING. That’s friggen’ exciting and a half. I don’t remember them because I was, well, two years old when they originally took place in 1990, but I’ve read about them and have seen those carts sell for crazy amounts of money. Want to learn yourself? Head yonder, young one.

Here’re some deets on how the Nintendo World Championships 2015 are going to work, according to Nintendo’s press release:

“On May 30, select Best Buy locations in major cities around the country will host qualifying tournaments for the Nintendo World Championships, which were last seen in 1990. The winners from each regional event, plus competitors invited by Nintendo, will meet on June 14, at the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles for a multi-round Nintendo game competition. In the end, one player will be crowned the 2015 Nintendo World Champion. Fans in Los Angeles will have the opportunity to attend the tournament, while others can watch online. More details about the qualifying tournaments will be shared in the coming weeks.”
