Gunnar Optiks has partnered with Blizzard Entertainment to make some sexy-ass swag for your eyeballs.
Right now on Gunnar’s website you can view Sleeve Set #1 — which features 12 different heroes — but more designs are planned through 2015 and beyond. If you’re a fan of ANY sort of Blizzard lore and you have yet to pick yourself up a pair of Gunnars, this is my PSA to you: GO PRE-ORDER. $15 will nab you a pre-order for the sleeves, and the glasses are sold separately. I’m particularly interested in the Azmodan sleeves myself.
I’ve been using Gunnars for about a year and I’m often asked if the glasses “really work.” I suffer from eyestrain (staring at a bright computer monitor all day then jumping into video games that take place on ANOTHER bright screen will do that to you) and I actually found the brightness was beginning to make me feel ill. Almost dizzy. Behind-the-eye headaches were beginning to occur more often than I liked and I was sick of relying on basic headache medicine to dull the pain. It wasn’t until a friend randomly let me borrow his pair of Gunnars that I realized I coulda been saving myself a LOT of grief.
I kid you not, the relief was instant. It was one of those, “Ooooh, I get it now!” moments. So, if you find yourself suffering from eyestrain, headaches, etc. and you spend the majority of your day staring at a screen I hiiiighly encourage you give ’em a chance. Don’t purchase the most expensive pair or anything like that until you know they’ll work for you, but yeah, take the plunge brosephs and brosephines.
I’m not going to say I’m completely convinced, but you’re the first person who bothered to explain what they did for you, so I might be tempted to give them a shot. Like you, I stare at a monitor all day, often reading a LOT of stuff in .pdf format with that bright white background (and I tend to grit my teeth when I concentrate), so I’m definitely familiar with the behind-the-eyes headache (and why, even on nights when I have the time, after about 7:30 or so, I’m done with the gaming most times.)
