A young chap recently sent me an email and asked whether or not I’ve ever felt embarrassed to admit that I like a video game. My answer is Totes McGoats. Thankfully, it’s something I got over. If you have any feedback, or your own story, please share!
(Also, all of the question marks in my old IGN blog are due to some weird formatting thing that happened when they switched to WordPress. Don’t judge.)
I find a simple beautiful irony to the fact that you un-abbreviated tl;dr.
And don’t you dare mock Happy-Happy Pony Town.
… Though Happy-Happy Pony Town 2 was better.
Hey, Harvest Moon is actually not that bad. Now that I think about it, it reminds me of Farmville on a console.
Great Vlog Britt!, don’t ever hide anything from us! That goes for the commenters too! My guilty pleasure had too be Haze, the multi-player modes were amazing! Even if the game stunk :/
You finally post a new video and it’s on my birthday…lol great timing Britt :D
More importantly, interesting, insightful vlog. I’m glad that you learned that being true to yourself was the way to go. Because it certainly holds true, people enjoy you for for you are. My only regret is that I didn’t find you sooner. <3
The reason this blog works is becuse you are genuen and have great attitude. I also think the fact you seem to embrace all platforms helps a ton. I hate web sites that are pro one platform. At least for me that’s why I am here.
My friends used to make fun of me all the time for playing Harvest Moon. I wasn’t ever really embarrassed by it though. I always just played what I wanted to. It didn’t matter to me what it was. If I was having fun, I didn’t really care. You should have heard the verbal beating I got when my COD buddies showed up while I was playing Bayonetta a little while ago. That was funny. They quieted down after watching me play for a bit though.
I really like Pit Fighter, and I don’t often admit it to people. It’s kind of fun in a goofy way, and I can’t stop playing it when it’s in front of me.
The very fact that you’re willing to stand by your “guilty gaming pleasures” just makes you more genuine in my eyes. I know these kinds of videos are not easy to make, but I’m glad that you made them, You don’t know it yet, but you’re helping a LOT of people find answers that they’ve been looking for. It makes me smile that you stay you, no matter how much (or how little) you fit in, in either case, you’re a good person in my eyes.
No, because I am really proud of my hobby. If people cannot take it, well, tough shakes.
Interesting topic and good on you to chat about it too, Brit. In the past, I’ve dealt with those same timid feelings in aspects outside of just my gaming passions. I use my blog/facebook/whatever as a bit of a personal journal to chronicle trips and adventures but because so many casual/non-close contacts don’t really know that aspect of my life, they tend to think it almost fake or poserish (I don’t think that’s a real word, oh well). The point is, I think as we get older and more confident in who we are and what we enjoy, the less cares we give about the opinions of others who don’t… a lot like old men who wear flip-flops and socks.
probably the Pokemon games for some odd reason… all though, I’ve stopped caring what others think about me these past couple years
