Guitar Hero Live Announced, Coming This Fall

It WAS Guitar Hero! Muahahaha, now I don’t need to sacrifice my firstborn’s first video game console. (It was basically the safest bet ever.)

Guitar Hero Live will be coming this fall to ALL of the consoles! Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, Wii U and even “select mobile devices” with a cost-o of $99.99. I haven’t been able to find anything regarding the compatibility of the old guitars, but seeing as the NEW guitars have six buttons in two rows of three as opposed to five, by guess is you’ll need to purchase new plastic-y goodness.

Guitar Hero Live’s shtick is the whole “real-time” experience/immersion shindig, thus what you saw in the video above wasn’t for dramatic effect. It sounds like that’s what your screen will actually look like when playing. ALL THE NERVES.

“A quantum leap forward in immersion and realism, GH Live is a live-action experience that delivers the full emotional roller coaster of being on stage and performing in a real band, in front of real crowds, who dynamically react in real-time to how well or poorly you play.” Thanks, friendly PR.

There’s a cool feature of GHTV, “the world’s first playable music video network,” that allows you and your friends to compete against other players for the highest score. Was that a thing in prior Guitar Hero games? Or, was that a thing in Rock Band? I dunno, as the feature definitely isn’t for me (ahhh online multiplayer competition ahhh) but I know a handful of you that would dig something like that.

Anywhozers, if you’re seeking mo’ information head over to the Activision Blog. If you’re SUPER excited about Guitar Hero Live and happen to live in New York City, Best Buy Theatre is having an event this evening from 6pm ET to 9pm ET. On April 18th an event  will take place again in New York City, as well as in Torrance, CA.

Soooo…what do you think? Is this “rehash” of Guitar Hero enough to make yo’ panties twist into an excited bundle? Or were you already excited? OR ARE YOU JUST PISSED OFF RAWRRRRRRRRRRRR

  1. Well I have guitar hero for Wii and I casually enjoyed it, so this looks like an interesting enough twist I think its cool that they are trying to make it fresh again.

  2. I am displeased cause I wanted a new Guitar Hero guitar like the old ones to play the new Rock Band with. I don’t like the Rock Band guitars and now they had to ruin things and make a different guitar lol.

  3. I sort of have mixed feelings on it.

Why hell yes? Well because this genre imo needed a reboot. Like a serious overhaul. The idea of making it a “real-time” experience makes me want to play It. Hell, the play through vid alone made me want to buy this game. Yes it would more than likely be a day where I dust off the ol’ bandana and get myself ready for the new experience.

Why hell naw? Well, the damn controller. What can I say. I love the 5 button original. Although, I will say this. The look of it looks genuine, and the idea of mimicking the strings of a guitar is innovative. Plus, it gives a new challenge. I like that aspect but for all the old school fans, we want 5 buttons. If not, but make the old controllers compatible. Hell, I wonder if these will gbe compatible with RB….my guess is no…oh well.
