E3 2015: Dishonored 2 OMFG

GUYS IT HAPPENED. NOT THAT IT WAS MUCH OF A SURPRISE BUT HOLY TITS IT HAPPENED. (Totally random, but during its reveal I was making a lot of inappropriate noises, which is unfortunate because it turns out the main steaming camera was right behind me. Hopefully no one heard my obnoxious grunts.)

This time around players will have the option of assuming the role of either Corvo Attano or Emily Kaldwin, both of which should be very familiar to those who’ve already played Dishonored. (If you haven’t played, please make it a point to do so.) Both Corvo and Emily will have different skill sets, abilities, tools and all of that good stuff to help them tackle missions and kill people. Neat.

We don’t know much more than that, other than the game will take place in Karnaca, Corvo’s birthplace. Dishonored 2 will release on PS4, Xbox One and PC next spring.

I always tried to play like a stealthy squirrel in Dishonored, buuuuut failed miserably. I’d be stalking someone or whatever and SOMEHOW fuck up only to be spotted by every freakin’ character on the entire freakin’ map. Sigh. So I just opted to kill everyone instead. /shrug

  1. I’m a little annoyed that they’re taking a weird “choose your own character” approach to this game. I was so stoked that they decided to have the protagonist be a woman and then got the rug pulled out from under me with the “but if you want to play as a guy you can too!” backpedaling. I like that both characters have different skill sets, which could be a fun way to mix up gameplay, but it leaves me questioning how that’ll fit into the story. Will things change if you play as Corvo vs Emily? Will there be two different campaigns? Will you be able to change characters on the fly or will you decide at the beginning of a mission? I guess I just hope that going in two different directions with the characters won’t be a disservice to the story. It seems like it could have been a great opportunity to have a focused story with a female character at the helm so I just hope that doesn’t get watered down.
