Britt5091 Origins: I can finally lay Dead Space to rest. Time to move on, baby!

Welcome to Britt5091: Origins, where I dig up old blog posts I used to write for IGN’s community under the username Britt5091. Some posts may make you giggle, some may make your eyes bleed, and some may make you stroke your beard in a pensive manner. All you need to know is that these posts, no matter how terrible some of them may be, ultimately lead to everything I do now.

I can finally lay Dead Space to rest. Time to move on, baby!

August 6th, 2009

What a ride. I’m glad I stuck with this game. It definitely satisfied my horror craving and then some! Once I stopped being a little girl about it, became accustomed to deranged things screaming and chasing after me, I was able to enjoy this game and all it has to offer.

Though I have to admit I didn’t find Dead Space all that challenging. Sure I only played it on Normal, and sure I died a few times but I think the biggest contributor to that was running out of ammo (which is my own fault cuz I’m trigger happy). I would like to play it on Hard the next time through.

While playing I got a sense of nostalgia for old school Resident Evil. Being trapped somewhere or in something, avoiding genetically mutated creatures that want to rip your head off, coming across something even bigger that wants to rip your head off, backtracking, just when you think you’ve completed a task, something breaks on you…sigh.

For those who have completed the game: How do you feel about the ending? I know the forums were going a little crazy with the thought that Nicole was either A) A Necromorph B) Dead, but at the end Isaac was still suffering from the Marker or C) Still alive. Leave your thoughts below, but please make sure you black them out for those less fortunate than us to have finished it. ;)

I’m excited to play a different game. I feel like a kid in a candy store because there are so many to choose from. I’ve had my eye on Mass Effect for a while and had my heart set on that.

…then I picked up a controller and popped in Modern Warfare for the 360.

Sooo yeah. There goes Mass Effect.

I’ve had MW as long as I can remember, but I’ve only played it a few times online, and every time I do I get my ass handed to me on a silver platter. And that irks me to no end. Therefore my new goal is to A) Complete the campaign mode on Regular and B) Play online till I’m pwning some people.

Go ahead, laaauuugh, but FPS and I normally don’t get along AT ALL. This is big step in Britt’s gaming world, people! OORAH!

What are you guys currently playing?

Damn, I really need to play Dead Space 2! Put that on my list right next to Bioshock 2, L.A. Noire, Uncharted 3…

::HEADDESK::

But I mean…Dead Space WAS a lot of fun, and it’s been a while since I’ve done the whole survival horror thing solo…hmmm…

No. I must resist. I do not have the time for Dead Space 2. No. No. No.

Also, LOLFAIL on my end. I seriously played Modern Warfare instead of Mass Effect?! BWUUUH? If I only knew my loves–Kaidan Alenko and Garrus Somethin’Somethin—were waiting for me with baited breath. But alas, I decided to shoot terrorists (or some shit) instead.

Sigh.

  1. You need to play Dead Space 2. I could not put that game down once I started.

Seriously, I think I played it 7 times straight.

    The Marker calls to you…

    PS – Garrus VAKARIAN

  2. Dead Space 2 is better than the first one. Isaac speaks and there are supporting characters with actual personalities. Big step for video games I know *gasp*. You have time, its really not that long of a game. I beat it under 10 hours and I died a lot on top of that.
