Britt5091 Origins: IT FINALLY HAPPENED

Welcome to Britt5091: Origins, where I dig up old blog posts I used to write for IGN’s community under the username Britt5091. Some posts may make you giggle, some may make your eyes bleed, and some may make you stroke your beard in a pensive manner. All you need to know is that these posts, no matter how terrible some of them may be, ultimately lead to everything I do now.

IT FINALLY HAPPENED

July 31st, 2009

Not my 360…oh God no…

L-last night…it…it…

Late Night with FozzyTheGamer! Special Guest: Britt5091! [taken from an interview with Foz from July 15, 2009]

Britt5091: ….But I have unconditional love for the 360, mind you. Probably because it hasn’t red ringed on me yet.

Fozzy: Oh wow, knock on wood for that! Mine did that in the past and I had to go through the warranty, a real pain.

Britt5091: Don’t curse me Fozzy.

Fozzy: I’m just saying, you’re a lucky one to not have yours Red Ring of Death your ass!

Britt5091: I know, I know. But if it happens now, you owe me.

Fozzy: Yeah, just bill it to the staff, I’m sure they will take care of it.

It’s always a scary thing when your 360 RRoD’s your ass. It’s like, you know it’s coming so all you can do is peer at the power button through your fingers. It’s quite frightening. And when it does happen…you cry. Or throw things. Perhaps both.

::AHEM::

RIP Xbox 360. You were a good friend of mine.  But almost two years after this incident you left me again. We had some good times, we did, and for you just to up and leave me TWICE like this is unacceptable.  I will forever hate you and miss you. However I want you to know I’m not putting 100% of the blame on you. I also blame Foz for jixing me during that damn interview.

  • I had mine RRoD on me once but I just turned it off and back on and it has been fine ever since. That was back in probably early 2007.

      Hey buddeh!

Holy crap, seriously? Mine was absolutely a gonner. I’m glad you were able to convince yours otherwise 😉

      • I consider myself lucky although I wouldn’t be upset if mine died because I kind of want one of the newer ones that I am told are a lot quieter.

  • Fozzy

It’s been over 2 years and still blaming me for the RRoD. What an asshat.

My last old-model Xbox started freezing in the same spot on Dead Space 2, then it wouldn’t play demos correctly. I tried DS2 and a demo at my bud’s and they worked fine. I went back and forth with Support ad they were like “we’ll set up a repair order”.

That’s when I was like “FUCK YOU, BUDDY” and just bought a “slim”. Now things are great.

  • In a cruel and heartless (and I felt personal attack), my old model 360 RROD’d on the release date for Forza 4. There is no God. We didn’t speak for weeks. A chance sighting of DoDonpachi Resurrection for ten english pounds was the first step. Forza 4 for a fiver was the second. I bought a slim and you know, things are working out now. Sure, it’ll never be the same but the slim makes a nice ‘blip’ sound when you press the eject button and she’s oh so very, very quiet this time…

Well the new XBox 720 is only a mere year or two away (as well as the PS4). I think they will avoid having the circle of death on the next gen XBox. The 20 will just explode instead.
